Part of the job of an American staffer for a Birthright trip is to collect the tip money for the bus driver and for the Israeli tour guide (the American staff is unpaid). By the end of the trip, assuming most people gave money, my co-staffer Becca and I are in possession of the equivalent of a couple thousand dollars in both American dollars and in Israeli shekels. It’s usually the most amount of physical cash I will hold in my hands for the year. To get this shot I had Becca hold the camera as I laid in a bed. We tried this shot a couple of different ways. Throwing the money in the air proved difficult (we kept having to dig $100 bills out of crevasses between the wall and the bed) and rolling in the money didn’t really show how much money there was due to my being on top of most of it. At one point Becca suggested burying me in cash which ended up being a good idea. Special thinks to Becca for this idea and for being my human tripod for this shot.
